Marine conservation expedition

The Marine Conservation Expedition offers a hands-on opportunity to participate in applied ocean research along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, operating out of Playa del Coco in collaboration with the professional dive team at Rich Coast Diving. This region is recognized for its exceptional marine biodiversity and seasonal presence of sharks, rays, and sea turtles.

Across multiple days of diving, participants work directly with experienced dive professionals and some of Costa Rica’s top marine biologists, contributing to ongoing research and monitoring initiatives. Field activities may include species identification, behavioral observations, photographic documentation, population data collection, and habitat assessments. Each dive is structured to combine exploration with scientific methodology, providing practical exposure to underwater research techniques in a dynamic marine environment.

Complementing the fieldwork, participants take part in dedicated lectures and discussions covering marine ecology, shark, ray and sea turtle conservation, and challenges facing marine ecosystems.

Participants stay in shared accommodations in Playa del Coco, encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange throughout the program. This expedition is designed for open water or advanced open water certified divers, seeking meaningful involvement in marine conservation and the adventure of a lifetime.

Starting at $3500 USD
